A meeting was held between the leadership delegation of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the Honorable Consul General of the friendly and brotherly country, the Republic of Turkey, in Herat, as well as the Commercial Attaché of Turkey's embassy in Kabul.

Participants in the meeting included Haji Ahmad Saeed Siddiqi, Deputy of Trade; Haji Abdullah Dashti, Deputy of Services; Haji Engineer Mohammad Gul Mahmoodi, Head of Finance; and Haji Syed Jamaluddin Hashimi, Head of International Affairs at the Herat Chamber. The Trade Deputy of the Herat Chamber spoke about strengthening trade relations between the two countries, emphasizing the necessity for the private sectors of Afghanistan and Turkey to enhance their commercial cooperation for mutual economic growth.

The Turkish Commercial Attaché and the Honorable Consul General of Turkey in Herat welcomed the proposals presented by the leadership of the Herat Chamber and stated that Turkish diplomats in Afghanistan are committed to creating favorable conditions and providing greater facilities to support the expansion of trade and investment activities between the two nations’ private sectors.

During the session, several Afghan traders and investors also raised issues and requested increased attention to improving commercial cooperation between Afghanistan and Turkey.

The inauguration ceremony of the 200 MW wind power plant project (first phase with a capacity of 43.2 MW) and a 5 MW solar power plant in Herat province was held with the participation of the leadership of the Islamic Government of Afghanistan and representatives of the country's private sector.

During the event, the respected Deputy for Economic Affairs of the Islamic Government of Afghanistan, officials from the Ministry of Economy, the General Directorate of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), the leadership of Herat’s local administration, the leadership of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and representatives of the Turkish construction company responsible for the project spoke about the significance of the inauguration and emphasized that more efforts than ever will be made for the development and prosperity of Afghanistan.

Mr. Mohammad Younus Mohmand, First Deputy of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, also attended and, on behalf of the private sector, expressed appreciation for the efforts and cooperation of the Islamic Government of Afghanistan in strengthening private sector activities, stating that Afghan traders and investors are more committed than ever to contributing to the country’s economic growth.

It is worth mentioning that the Turkish company 77 Construction, in partnership with DABS, will complete the 200 MW wind power project in Herat at an estimated cost of nearly $250 million. Additionally, the private company Etimad Solar will generate 5 MW of solar electricity.

In this event, Honorable Haji Engineer Mohammad Gul Mahmoodi, Head of Finance, Honorable Haji Syed Jamaluddin Hashimi, Head of International Affairs, and Honorable Mohammad Yousuf Amin, Executive Director of Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, participated. The Head of Finance of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, while congratulating the officials of this large agricultural company, expressed that the leadership of Herat Chamber is determined to support the economic growth of farmers, traders, and investors in this sector by strengthening agricultural activities.

Furthermore, at this ceremony, the respected Head of Subhan Tabesh Sofyan Agricultural Improved Seed Production Company, expressing gratitude for the continuous cooperation of the honorable leadership of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, stated that with an investment close to one million dollars in the agriculture sector, they seek to support Afghan farmers and agricultural workers.

The Subhan Tabesh Sofyan Agricultural Improved Seed Production Company will operate in the field of agricultural specialization and the improvement of agricultural seeds for Afghan farmers.

The Deputy for Services of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, along with several representatives of sectoral unions from the province, held a meeting with the officials of the Dogharoon Free Economic Zone to discuss the challenges faced by traders, investors, and transporters from both sides.

Mr. Haji Abdullah Dashti, Deputy of Services at ACCI Herat, emphasized the importance of investment in the Dogharoon Free Zone for both Afghanistan and Iran, and explained the goals of his visit. He called for increased facilities and support for the private sectors of both countries.

In response, the Dogharoon Free Zone authorities reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral trade activities and announced that a new support plan for the private sector of both nations will soon be drafted and implemented in this zone.

Moreover, the delegations visited the Fakhri Zadeh parking area, listened to Afghan truck drivers' concerns, and pledged to resolve their issues.

The respected Head of International Affairs of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, Mr. Alhaj Sayed Jamaluddin Hashemi, participated in a joint meeting between the leadership of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) and provincial chambers with the leadership of UNAMA and UNDP offices.

At the beginning of the program, the ACCI leadership, Mr. Hashemi, and the heads of various provincial chambers discussed the key issues and challenges facing Afghanistan’s private sector. They emphasized the importance of expanding international cooperation and support for Afghan traders and investors.

Senior representatives from UNAMA and UNDP also participated in the meeting. They expressed their commitment to working with Afghanistan’s private sector and said that efforts are underway to increase support and facilitation for Afghan businesses at the international level.

A meeting was held between the respected leadership of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment and the esteemed Head of the Iran Rail Consortium to discuss solutions to certain existing issues along the Herat-Khaf railway line.

At the beginning of the meeting, Alhaj Mohammad Latif Qanawizian, First Deputy of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and Alhaj Abdullah Dashti, Service Deputy of the Chamber, welcomed the Herat-Khaf railway operations. They expressed that although the project is active, there are still challenges along the route that must be addressed in order to develop the railway industry in both Afghanistan and Iran and to strengthen this important transit corridor.

Also in this meeting, Mr. Mostafa Rezaei, Head of the Iran Rail Consortium, stated that despite its short period of operation, the Khaf-Herat railway has gained the satisfaction of the private sectors in both Afghanistan and Iran. He added that further efforts will be made to facilitate the transit of commercial goods for traders and industrialists from both sides. He emphasized that with the cooperation of the leadership of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, they are working to resolve the existing challenges.

The Honorable Deputy of Trade Affairs of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment took part in a joint cooperation agreement signing ceremony between the Herat Governor’s Office, the Directorate of Industry and Commerce, the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, the Chamber of Industries and Mines of Herat, the Artisans’ Chamber, the Directorate of Economy, the Directorate of Agriculture, and the Business Advisory Center of the Faculty of Economics, Herat University.

This ceremony, held in the Islamic Garden and attended by Sheikh-ul-Hadith wal-Tafsir Al-Haj Mawlana Noor Ahmad Islamjar, Governor of Herat Province, highlighted the importance of academic institutions providing essential advisory support to traders, investors, and industrialists. The Governor noted that the signing of this agreement will significantly boost the commercial activities of the private sector in Herat.

In this event, Al-Haj Ahmad Saeed Siddiqi, Deputy of Trade Affairs of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, also welcomed the agreement, emphasizing the urgent need for a specialized environment in Afghanistan’s trade and industry sectors. He added that academic institutions in Afghanistan should establish faculties focused on enhancing students’ industrial knowledge to support the country’s trade and industrial growth.

This cooperation agreement was signed among several sectoral institutions and aims to foster specialized trade and industry in Afghanistan and particularly in Herat Province.
