The topographic survey of the reserved area for the planned industrial park in Maidan Wardak Province has officially commenced and is currently in progress. This survey covers an area of approximately 450 jeribs of land and is being conducted with the objective of preparing a detailed master plan for the mentioned industrial park.

During this process, advanced equipment such as the Total Station is being used, which records highly accurate topographic data through modern laser technology. Upon completion of the survey, a comprehensive plan will be developed, paving the way for the establishment and development of a standard and well-organized industrial park at the provincial level.

Mr. Zakaria Noori, Head of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Maidan Wardak Province, emphasized the significance of this project, describing it as an important step toward strengthening the economic and industrial infrastructure of the province. According to him, the expansion of industrial parks will facilitate the attraction of new investments, which in turn will create employment opportunities for hundreds of people, both directly and indirectly.

Meanwhile, more than six manufacturing companies have already begun infrastructure development activities in the Kotul Takht Industrial Park, located in Maidan Wardak Province. With a total area of 1,250 jeribs of land, this park is considered one of the major industrial projects at the provincial level.

Following the completion of the survey and preparation of the detailed plan, this park will also be ready for operation—marking a significant step toward balanced development and the strengthening of the province’s economic foundations.

The foundation stone was laid for a major cold storage facility in the Ghazi Mohammad Jan Khan Township project, with an estimated investment of one million US dollars. The project is being launched by the private sector in coordination and cooperation with the Municipality, the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing, the Departments of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, and the Chamber of Commerce and Investment.

The cold storage facility will have a total capacity of 2,000 to 2,500 tons, playing a vital role in preserving agricultural products, boosting exports, and adding value to local produce. The project will create employment opportunities for around 100 individuals, and construction is expected to be completed within two months. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Governor of the province, Qari Sahib Bakhtiar Moaz, along with officials from relevant departments, investors, and local residents. Zakaria Noori, Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, described the project as an important economic step and a successful example of public-private partnership.

Zakaria Noori, the Executive Director of the Maidan Wardak Chamber of Commerce and Investment, held an important meeting with Mr. Mujib-ur-Rahman Shahab, Head of the Beekeepers Union, to discuss the capacities, values, and challenges of the honey sector in Maidan Wardak province.

Mr. Shahab stated that approximately 250 small and large beekeeping farms are currently active in Maidan Wardak, collectively housing around 50,000 beehive boxes. If the value of each box is estimated at 4,000 Afghanis, the sector represents an investment requirement of nearly 200 million Afghanis — not including other essential equipment and tools.

These farms not only operate domestically but also transfer beehives to regions beyond the province and even outside the country that are suitable for producing high-quality honey. Each farm employs about five skilled male and female workers, totaling approximately 1,250 personnel. The farms produce premium-grade honey that meets international standards, including varieties such as Shinshoobi, Sankhali, Gulbakhork, Kharnaki, honey from Baba Mountains, Rehan, Jambalak, and other local types. Annually, around 750 tons of honey are harvested. If sold at an average rate of 400 Afghanis per kilogram, the total annual income from honey sales could reach nearly 300 million Afghanis.

At the end of the meeting, officials from the Chamber of Commerce assured that the challenges faced by beekeepers would be shared with the relevant institutions to ensure necessary support and facilities are provided.

At the outset, the project's technical officer welcomed the chamber's leadership and stated that the presence of private sector representatives brings encouragement and motivation to the technical team. He emphasized that the support of economic institutions and chambers of commerce plays a decisive role in the successful implementation of such national projects. He further added that approximately 650 million USD will be invested in three phases for the exploration, extraction, and processing of this mine.

The Hajigak iron mine, considered one of the largest iron ore deposits in the country, holds significant potential to become a major industrial hub and a leading source of iron production in the region.

Zekria Noori, the Executive Director of the Maidan Wardak Chamber of Commerce and Investment, while presenting technical and economic details about the project, stated that this major initiative will be implemented jointly in partnership with a foreign company. He explained that as part of the project, a modern factory will be established with a daily production capacity of 9,000 tons of iron and sponge iron. In addition to industrial output, the project will create over 6,000 direct jobs and thousands of indirect employment opportunities for the local population.

At the End, Alhaj Noor Agha Ebrahimi, Chairman of the Maidan Wardak Chamber of Commerce and Investment, remarked that despite Afghanistan’s vast mineral resources, the country has not been able to effectively benefit from these opportunities due to weak industrial infrastructure and ongoing economic challenges. He emphasized that the implementation of this project will not only meet domestic demand but also pave the way for iron exports to regional countries, marking a new chapter in the nation’s industrial and economic development.
