The mining and processing company “Afghan Qorghoz,” with an investment of 5 million USD, was officially inaugurated in Maidan Wardak Province

The inauguration ceremony of the “Afghan Qorghoz” mining and processing company was held in the presence of esteemed individuals including Alhaj Hedayatullah Badri, Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum; Sheikh Anwarul Haq Anwar, Director of the Administrative Office; Qari Bakhtiyar Moaz, Governor of Maidan Wardak; members of the leadership board of the Maidan Wardak Chamber of Commerce and Investment, and other local officials.

Governor Moaz warmly welcomed the guests and congratulated the people of Afghanistan, particularly the residents of Maidan Wardak, on the inauguration of this company. He praised such private sector initiatives as valuable steps towards the country’s economic development. He reaffirmed the provincial leadership’s full support for establishing factories, cold storage facilities, and industrial projects, and pledged to communicate the private sector’s challenges to the high-ranking government authorities.

The head of “Afghan Qorghoz” Mining and Processing Company, while thanking the distinguished guests for their presence, explained that antimony is a strategic and important element, found in nature primarily as a silvery, brittle semi-metal in compound form. He highlighted its broad uses, calling it vital in battery manufacturing, military applications, glassmaking, ceramics, and pharmaceuticals.

He added that Afghanistan, especially Maidan Wardak, holds rich antimony reserves, with extensive stibnite deposits providing the basis for extraction and processing. He stated that the project will generate more than 20 million Afghanis annually for the national treasury and create employment opportunities for over 400 individuals. Moreover, the export of this valuable metal to regional countries is set to begin.

Sheikh Anwarul Haq Anwar, Director of the Administrative Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, praised the efforts of the Afghan Qorghoz company and regarded such projects as symbols of economic self-reliance, national initiative, and governmental achievement. He emphasized that through strong determination and coherent policies, the Islamic Emirate will realize the people’s long-held dream of industrialization and economic independence.

Alhaj Hedayatullah Badri noted that Maidan Wardak is not merely an agricultural province but a land rich in minerals whose potential can drive Afghanistan’s economic self-sufficiency. He lamented that during the occupation period, these mines were illegally smuggled to neighboring countries, but under the rule of the Islamic Emirate, legal mining and processing have now begun within the country.
