A high-level delegation meeting was held in the conference hall of Dogharoon Customs between the President of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, the provincial Departments of Transport, Industry and Commerce, Customs, the High Commission of Islam Qala, the Department of Foreign Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Herat, and senior officials from Khorasan Razavi province of Iran along with representatives of Herat’s local government.

At the beginning of this extraordinary meeting, Mohammad Younus Qazizadah, President of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment, spoke about the challenges faced by the private sectors on both sides of the border. He emphasized that the economic growth of Afghanistan and Iran is interconnected and that significant efforts must be made to enhance trade between the two countries. He added that some minor challenges in the trade route have caused the broader value of Afghanistan-Iran trade relations to be overlooked and called for joint efforts to strengthen the private sectors in both countries.

The Iranian delegation was led by Mr. Jafar Shahamat, Director General of Transport and Head of the Road and Transportation Department of Khorasan Razavi province, who welcomed the presence of senior officials from Herat’s local administration. He expressed Iran's readiness to strengthen trade and investment ties with Afghanistan and pledged to work closely with colleagues to address the challenges at the Dogharoon border.

Additionally, senior officials from Herat's Department of Transport, the Foreign Relations Office, the Department of Industry and Commerce, the Customs Department, and the Commissioner of Islam Qala discussed existing problems with their Iranian counterparts. Important decisions were made to resolve several of the issues, and both sides committed to swift implementation.

At the end of this extraordinary meeting, the Afghan delegation toured various sections of Dogharoon Customs.
