The dignified transportation of returning Afghan migrants from the Islamic Republic of Iran — from the Islam Qala border to the nation’s capital — is being carried out with the courageous support of Herat’s private sector.

Mr. Mohammad Younus Qazizada, Head of the Herat Chamber of Commerce and Investment and Chairman of the Herat Private Sector Assistance Committee; Mr. Alhaj Naser Amin, member of the Committee and Chairman of the Chamber of Industries and Mines of the province; Mr. Alhaj Abdullah Dashti, Deputy of Services; Mr. Alhaj Engineer Mohammad Gul Mahmoodi, Finance Director; Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Amin, Executive Officer; along with several staff members of the Herat Chamber, traveled to the Islam Qala border. After assessing the situation — currently well under control by local authorities — they initiated the large-scale transportation of Afghan migrants from the border to Kabul.

The Private Sector Assistance Committee of Herat was established through the initiative of Sheikh-ul-Hadith wal-Tafsir Alhaj Mawlawi Noor Ahmad Islamjar, Governor of Herat, and with the participation of national traders and generous philanthropists of the province. In coordination with local authorities at the border, the committee officially began the dignified relocation process starting today.

It is worth noting that the committee, chaired by Mr. Qazizada, is scheduled to transfer five thousand (5,000) returning Afghan migrants from today onward to Kabul, fully funded by Herat’s private sector.
