The Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Investment, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), organized a special event to commemorate the World Day Against Child Labour at the Chamber's headquarters.
The event was attended by government officials and private sector representatives, including Mr. Asadullah Asadi (Head of Balkh Chamber), Mr. Ahmad Shakib Akbari (Executive Director), Mawlawi Sardar Mohammad Haidari (Balkh Director of Economy), Mr. Ahmad Wali Sangar (Economic Expert of the Governor’s Office), Mr. Sayed Zainullah Osmani (Head of Balkh Agriculture Chamber), representatives from the Departments of Labour and Social Affairs, Information and Culture, as well as traders, entrepreneurs, economic stakeholders, and representatives from international organizations.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Asadi welcomed participants and emphasized the harmful impact of child labour on the future of society. He highlighted the critical role of the private sector in combating this issue and expressed gratitude to the ILO for supporting such awareness programs. He reaffirmed the Chamber’s and the business community’s commitment to working with relevant institutions to address the issue.
Other speakers from both governmental and private entities shared insights on combating child labour, supporting families, and enhancing public awareness.
At the end of the event, participants pledged to take effective steps toward eliminating child labour in Balkh through joint efforts, awareness campaigns, and strengthened cooperation between the public and private sectors.
